Mango Kootu

 

Ingredients:

  • Raw Mango - 1
  • Chilli powder - 2 spoon
  • Asafoetida - liitle
  • Red Chilli - 1
  • Salt as needed
  • Oil - 2 spoons
  • Seasoning (Mustard, Jeera, Methi, Red Chilli, Asafoetida)


Making:

  • Cut mango into small pieces
  • Mix mango with Chilli powder and salt
  • Keep it for minimum 10 mins
  • In a vessel, pour oil and put seasoning
  • Add Mango mixture
  • Cook for 1 minute
  • Remove from flame

Appam

 

Ingredients:

  • Raw Rice - 4 cups (white cup)
  • Puzhungal Rice - 1 big curry spoon
  • Urad Dal - 1 big curry spoon
  • Banana - 2 small or 1 big
  • Coconut - 1 cup
  • Cooked rice and/or dosa batter - 1 big curry spoon
  • Salt - 1 spoon

Making:
  • Mix Raw Rice, Puzhungal Rice, Urad Dal and soak and grind it
  • Grind Banana and add it
  • Grind Coconut and add it
  • Grind cooked rice and add it
  • Add dasa batter if needed
  • Add salt

Kappa

Ingredients:

  • Kizhangu - 2
  • Turmeric - 1/4 TSP
  • Salt as needed
  • Coconut - 1/4 cup
  • Oil to tadka (2 TSP)
  • Mustard (1 TSP)



Preparation:

  • Remove skin of Kizhangu and cut it into small pieces
  • Put it in pressure cooker and pour water to just cover it
  • Add Turmeric and salt and mix it
  • Pressure cook it for 3 whistles
  • Put frying pan
  • Pour oil and add mustard
  • Add Kizhangu (after filter if there is extra water)
  • Add coconut
  • Mix well until it comes to the consistency which we wanted
  • Enjoy kappa with fish curry
